Can carbs transform your physique?
If you've been following me for a while you already know that I come from a pageant and modeling background. Which means that for most of my life I was led to believe that carbs were evil. I am sure I am not alone when it comes to this. Many of us associate carbs as evil and the main culprit for weight gain. However, if you use carbs to fuel the body, recover, build metabolism and muscle then it actually has a major impact on your body. It can actually help improve your physique.
You will feel more energized and stronger eating carbs. When lifting weights this is a major component for allowing you to lift heavier which in turn is what really changes our physique. The greatest variable that carbs have is for recovery.
However, eating more carbs does not apply to everyone. If you are sedentary for most of your day and don't really workout a lot; then your best bet is to not eat a lot of carbs because you don't need a lot of fuel. However, for most of us this is not the case. If you are working out 3-6x a week, constantly on the move and never really have time to sit and watch tv, then you should be eating more carbs.
I now realize how many years I have deprived my body of carbs and it is now catching up with me. My body doesn't respond as quickly nor as efficiently as others when it comes to cutting and dropping weight. I teach my clients teh same thing and at first they are hesitant but as time passes and they see results they start loving carbs.
