Difference between Catabolic & Anabolic State

Catabolic and Anabolic are two different states that describe whether the body is building tissue or breaking it down.

Catabolic: is the breaking down of tissue. Cardio or weights cause tiny tears in the tissue that brings you into a Catabolic State. The longer your workouts are, the more damage. ( Being in a Catabolic state too much eats away muscles and favors fat gain)

Anabolic: Body is building or repairing tissue. When you rest your body repairs itself. Its during REST you put on size, not at the GYM! You can also enter Anabolic state with nutrition by eating protein every 2-3 hours. When you don't eat for a long period of time, your body can start breaking down muscle tissue for energy (Catabolic state). The best way to prevent this is to eat often. ( This is the state you want to be in to put on muscle)

If you are trying to make Gains here are some of my tips to enter Anabolic State

  • moderate intensity workouts, with moderate ranges

  • keep rest periods short

  • Stick to Volume Work instead of Load.
