Should I Eat Healthy on the Holidays?

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love this holiday! I’m actually torn up between Christmas and Thanksgiving and which one I enjoy more. I think I enjoy Thanksgiving so much because my birthday either falls on that day or right around the corner-November 25th. I love any excuse to be with my family. I mean, I see them all the time; I think its a Cuban thing, but I never get sick of it. The yummy food is a bonus!

Since I am a huge fan of the holidays and truly enjoying them, I am here to tell you the same! Enjoy your holidays! Don’t obsess over the food. Spend quality time with your loved ones. Sit back, relax, and enjoy that glass of wine with some pecan pie. Do you, boo boo. If eating the food and not stressing over it makes you happy, then so be it. On the other hand, if you enjoy eating healthy and not over indulging then that is cool too.

I used to go all-out on Thanksgiving, like 2 to 3 plates all-out! However, I would feel sick the rest of the day and I wouldn't’’t really even get to enjoy it. That is not fun either. Instead I serve myself a little bit of everything and sit down and talk to those around me. I would honestly just scarf down the food without even looking up and keep eating and eating like a black hole. Instead, I serve myself a little bit of everything, sit down and talk to those around me and rest up for BLACK FRIDAY.

At the end of the day, put whatever you want on your plate, eat however much of it you want, and drink to your heart’s content. Just because you have a handful of days of not worrying about macros, you’re not going to ruin your chances of making progress and attaining your fitness goals. As a matter of fact, it is actually mentally healthy! Taking a couple days to just enjoy food without counting is a great way to shock the body by going into a surplus and reset the mind.

Also, don’t try and kill yourself at the gym before and after the fact to try and make up for the extra amount of food. That really isn’t going to do much. What I can tell you is if your looking to make some booty gainz, a good glute/leg day workout would be really beneficial. Oh, and maybe some prayers to the food Gods to let all that corn souffle go to the booty.

Come to think of it, there are 365 days in a year. Having 1 day “off” is only 0.3% of that. It really isn’t that big of a deal. One day won’t make or break you. Enjoy your day with family and friends.
