Simple and Clean Healthy Snacks

I’m so happy to be sharing with you some of my favorite store-bought snacks. And I say store-bought, because there was no cooking or preparing for these.

Don't get me wrong,  love a good home-made protein snack, but  I don't always have the time to make it. So today, we’re going to look at a bunch of healthy and clean snacks you can get almost anywhere.

Never tried Baba Ghanoush? It’s so good and full of healthy protein and doesn't taste strange at all. Made from nothing but organic mashed cooked eggplant mixed with tahini, olive oil, and various seasonings. It tastes delicious with these Mary's Gone Crackers  as well as rice cakes. It is a great alternative to Hummus because even though they share similar ingredients; they have one important difference: the main ingredient in hummus is chickpeas and in Baba Ghanoush it’s eggplant. This means Baba Ghanoush has five more vitamins and one more mineral.

I know your all thinking, "Seriously?!" but baby food is actually organic and nutritious. Since it is for babies they are not going to add a whole bunch of chemicals and crap that you don't need.  Plus if you don't have time to eat an entire meal, this is a great way to get in all your macros (fat, carbs and proteins) without even using a fork. You can eat it while your driving and it doesn't even make a mess. Ella's Kitchen is my favorite brand.

Many of you like something quick and easy like a drink. Most of us go for juices since its fruit and we automatically think "healthy". However,  straight juice doesn’t have any protein or fat either, which means you’re not going to be satiated. Instead, this Koia Protein Drink actually has plant based protein and  a dairy-free nut-milk blend, so there’s plenty of protein and fat. And it’s oh-so-creamy.

Kombucha is also another one for the win. It aids with digestion and gut health. Tastes so good.

I have a love/hate relationship with these. I love it so much that I tend on overeat it if I eat my trail mix straight out of the bag, because I literally cannot stop myself. So, when you’re eating trail mix as a snack, portion a serving.

PSA about trail mix — there are a lot of varieties out there with tons of chocolate — and those would not be the best choice. Look for ones with more nuts and seeds, and as always, eat with moderation, as this may be the biggest calorie-bomb on this list — but oh so tasty.

I have been eating these almost every day with some Greek Yogurt. This is kinda my "go to" snack lately. I have a bit of a sweet tooth so this kind of kills those cravings. Plus I even out my macros by pairing it with Greek Yogurt (protein).  I love the NOTHING BUT brand because all their products are very clean and organic.

  • RX BAR

I recently tried these bars because they have been all over social media and I had to jump on the bandwagon. The ingredients are SUPER clean and stated right on the front of the package. They have a lot of protein too (12 grams a bar, to be exact) from egg whites — which is awesome. I've only tried these two flavors and they were super yummy. Remember, there are a lot of bars out there in the market that can have a place in your diet, but if you’re aiming for a healthier or cleaner bar, you have to look at the ingredients list, and Rxbars are high ranking in the clean department.

Lenny & Larry's are not the perfect snack. They have a lot of carbs for the amount of protein in it. However, I put them on this list because instead of reaching for the oreo's or chips ahoy, you might as well eat these. They are all natural and high in fiber, which regular cookies are not.
