Slow Cooker Cuban Carnitas

Ingredients:

  • 4.5 pounds pork tenderloin

  • Seasoned Salt, to taste

  • 2 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 whole sweet onion, diced

  • 1/2 lemon

  • 1/2 orange

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

  • 3/4 jar sofrito or salsa

  • 1 can green chile

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • Pepper. to taste

Directions:

  1. Clean the pork and pat dry.

  2. Trim all excess fat on the pork

  3. Cut into large chunks and season the chunks with the dry seasonings (pepper, salt, cumin, onion powder).

  4. In a hot pan, saute onions with minced garlic. Then add in the pork chunks and sear on each side.

  5. Move pork and onions to slow cooker

  6.  Add remaining ingredients and cook for 4-6 hours until tender.

  7. Once finished, shred with tongs or two forks.
