Should you Meal Prep?

Absolutely!

Meal prepping sucks, I hear ya. Want to know why I love Fridays so much? There's no meal prepping for the next day. I don’t need to prepare my lunch and snacks for work which can be super time consuming and annoying. However, want to know what also happens on Saturday and Sunday? I completely eff up my macros! I eat a lot less than what I’m supposed to and try to “wing it” only to wake up the next morning weighing more. Meal planning is what works for me and there’s no way around it, I’m stuck with it.

There are coaches and clients that I know, who work from home and do a great job at hitting their macros daily. But the people that are like that are usually 1% of the population. Just like that girl you see walking around yearly with a six pack? Yea those are the few lucky ones. Now I don’t want to sound like Debbie Downer and that your doomed for the rest of your life

When you first start out on your fitness journey, I would 100% suggest that you meal prep. It allows you to be more adherent to it. As time goes by and you start getting the hang of it, then maybe you can meal prep a little less. When I first started I would Meal Prep every Sunday and make my veggies, protein, and carbs for the entire week (I would freeze half of it so it wouldn’t go bad). As time passed, I started to do less and less. Nowadays, the only thing I do is prepare my meals for the next day. However, I cook daily because I enjoy it and it allows me to be “creative” in the kitchen. I actually eat the same things mostly everyday but in my head I think I’m creative haha. What I am trying to say is that in the past,  I would only eat chicken for every meal because I was easy to track and I didn’t really know how to work with macros. As time went on, I started understanding it more and how I could change foods to fit my macros. Once I became a coach, it's like second nature to me.

In essence, I always tell my clients to meal prep. It just takes out the guess work and one less thing you have to worry about. Especially if you are new to macros you will be super overwhelmed. Just like anything in life, once you get the hang of it, you can start experimenting and doing more things with it.

Tips to Meal Prep:

  1. Take 1 day a week to make your protein, carbs and some veggies.

  2. Keep half of the foods in the freezer until ready to consume

  3. To make it even easier, place your entire meals in separate containers so all you have to do is grab the container, heat up and eat. No wandering eyes and searching for what to eat.

I’m curious to know, do you meal prep?
