2020 is a gonna be great they said! New Year, New me!

Well, it’s definitely a new everyone! If you would’ve told me that in March 2020 the whole world was going to be going through a pandemic and everyone was going to be locked up in their house, I probably would’ve thought you were crazy and then immediately had a Panic Attack. I probably would have imagined a million scenarios that we would be in and freaked out. But come to think of it, it hasn’t been all that bad.

Yes, the virus itself and the fact that people are dying is awful and it really saddens me. But having to stay at home for the safety of ourselves and our loved ones, really isn’t all that bad. There’s not much we can do in a situation like this. However, what we can do is be precautions and take all measures to keep ourselves and others out of the hard way. Wash our hands, wear our masks, stay at home, keep our distance at the grocery store. Another thing we can control is our actions and our mindset. Instead of thinking about this as an awful situation, why don’t we see it for what it is? Its time off that we all needed. Lord knows everyone lives such a stressed life and always on the “go, go, go”. Well, now we can actually sit down and have dinner as a family, call that aunt that we haven’t seen in ages, and finally take some self-care time.

Something else that we can control are our actions. We don’t have to be sitting on our butts watching Netflix all day. We can absolutely workout with whatever we have. Yes, we have to be a bit creative with our workouts but it can absolutely be done. I have kept up with my regular workout schedule and although I am not lifting as heavy, I am focusing on my execution. I really take my time with each movement and really focus on tempo. I am doing higher reps than before but I am

not losing focus. like I said before, we just need to shift our mindsets. If you are someone that lifts very heavy, take this time to really focus on your form.

As for nutrition; there are two things you need to focus on:

  • Don’t buy Junk Food

  • Be Prepared.

If you’re someone who can’t control themselves, then don’t have the food in your house. It’s totally ok to not have the will power to say no but don’t put yourself through that predicament and stress.

Being prepared is probably the best advice I can give you! Just to give you an example. Monday through Friday I am totally on point with my nutrition. Eating every meal, writing it on myFitnesspal, and making good food choices. However, Saturday & Sunday I get a bit lazy and don’t organize and prepare my food beforehand. So what happens? I end up eating fewer vegetables throughout the day and fewer meals. Which is not what I want for my goals. Trying to make gains here. Perhaps you might be someone who ends up overeating and that’s ok we are all different. However, if you have your meals already portioned into separate containers then all you have to do is heat it up and eat.
